At UK Mediation, we’re dedicated to getting people talking: addressing conflict, promoting wellbeing through constant dialogue, and supporting people’s healthy interactions in workplaces, neighbourhoods, families, and businesses.
And we like to practise what we preach. For the last 20 years or so we have been proud holders of the Investors in People standard, and we have again just received our three-yearly re-accreditation.
So, what’s it all about?
Investors in People in an industry standard that demonstrates that the holder organisation:
Gives its people a voice
As a holder organisation, we have to demonstrate how everyone is included in setting standards, innovating, holding the organisation true to its values, and being a major part of decision-making
Feedback from employees, contractors, and affiliates is collected first-hand, not just by the organisation’s leaders, but by the Investors in People assessors, and this is used to help shape future plans.
Measures and recognises progress
‘Constantly moving, constantly improving’ is one of the Investors in People mottos. The standard looks at how people are led, how their skills and talents are developed, and how their successes are recognised.
Values have to be lived, not just learned and repeated, and this is only possible by having effective leadership, management, and development of the organisations’ greatest asset: its people.
Understands areas for improvement
By throwing all of our processes open to external scrutiny, we can use the standard and our three-yearly re-accreditation process to gain valuable objective and independent insights into how we can improve our culture and performance.
It is no accident that we have been around for 25 years, leading and innovating: our process of continual improvement has served us well, and will continue to do so as we grow and develop even further.
As industry-leading mediators and educators, we put people at the heart of everything we do. As we proudly show off our new three-year re-accreditation plaque, we’re glad to say that we are definitely living our values: investing in our continual improvement, investing in our future, and most importantly, investing in our people!
