Mike is a highly-experienced psychotherapist, mediator, trainer, lecturer, and the founder of UK Mediation and EU Mediation. With over 25 years’ experience in the conflict resolution field, Mike specialises in applying his in-depth knowledge of psychological processes to the resolution of disputes for teams, groups, and organisations.
Mike's unique psychotherapeutic approach to conflict resolution involves looking at how and why we get into conflict, how we behave when become locked in dispute, and what we need from an impartial third party in order to resolve difficult interpersonal issues.
Mike can advise on the best way to get to the heart of conflict, whether that means using the services of one of our own experts, or having us train you and your organisation in how to resolve matters for yourselves. Mike has assembled a highly skilled team of practitioners over the years, and helps to maintain our industry-leading quality standard with his personal oversight and ongoing support of all of our experts.
Mike has degrees in psychology, work design & ergonomics, and psychotherapy, and his doctoral work is in the overlap of psychotherapy and mediation. Mike writes widely, presents at conferences all over the world, and is a regular contributor to the media on topics related to conflict resolution and mediation.
Scott oversees all daily activities at our Derbyshire HQ and looks after all of our marketing output as Sales & Marketing Manager.
Along with maintaining our website, creating content, running our social media, and looking after search engine optimisation, Scott also organises our calendar and schedules all of our conference appearances and showcase events.
A key element of UK Mediation's offering is how we like to customise training courses to each client's precise needs. Scott will be with you from your initial training enquiry right through to designing your event and selecting the best team member to deliver your in-house training or other services. Scott can help you to clarify exactly what sort of training you or your organisation will need, including scheduling a more in-depth consultation with a subject expert if necessary.
As well as being a qualified mediator, Scott holds a degree in Journalism & Broadcasting and has written for football e-zines and music review sites, amongst other publications. He is responsible for a lot of our content across all platforms, including our impressive library of webinars on all things mediation.
As our Customer Service Administrator, Imogen is your point of contact regarding all aspects of our open-access training courses: right from providing you with pre-course information, giving you all the details you will need to get the most from your training, through to providing post-course support once you have qualified as a mediator with us.
Behind the scenes, Imogen will be working with our high-quality training venues, ensuring everything will be in place for you to have a great training experience with us, and making sure that all goes according to plan.

Imogen makes sure that all of this comes together in every public training course that we deliver.
Imogen holds a degree in Textile Design along with her mediator qualification, and worked in fashion, retail, and customer service before joining UK Mediation.
Becky is one of UK Mediation's longest-serving members of HQ staff, using her vast experience to oversee all aspects of mediation case management
Becky responds to all mediation case enquiries, liaises with and organises our panel of mediators, and looks after the admin side of our mediation service. Enquirers are often unsure about how to manage the conflict situation that they or their organisation are involved in, and Becky is able to support and advise people on whether mediation might be the best option.
Mediation has to be handled confidentially, sensitively, and with a high level of care. Becky ensures this and more: anyone referring a case to us will be helped to fully understand how the process will work, what the timings will look like and, in the case of team and group disputes, that we remain impartial and treat everyone equally.
With qualifications in mediation, personnel management and customer relations, and with years of experience in customer-facing roles, Becky provides the perfect interface for anyone thinking of using our professional mediation services.
As Accounts Manager for UK Mediation and EU Mediation, Heather takes responsibility for the companies' invoicing, purchasing, and financial reporting.
With great attention to detail, Heather is the appointed contact for both our ISO:9001 quality standard and our Investors in People standard, and so maintains everything we need to keep these standards audited, relevant, and up-to-date ready for our periodic inspections and annual audits.
Leaving nothing to chance, we do everything to ensure that our success since 1999 will be maintained well into the future. Our incredible performance throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns are a testament to our robustness, contingency management, and financial planning, and Heather makes sure that everything adds up to make this happen.
Heather is qualified in office management, accounts, and customer services, and prior to joining UK Mediation in 2016 worked for numerous property companies.
Andy is one of UK Mediation’s most experienced trainers, with a wealth of experience in training and adult education, gained initially through his military background as a British Army Education Officer.
Since leaving the forces, Andy has gained an MBA, an MSc in Business Management Training, a PGCE, and an ILM Level 7 in Coaching and Psychometric Tools. He brings a wealth of skill and experience to the training room, backed up by an active mediation caseload which he draws upon when applying the learning to practical examples and real-life dispute scenarios.
During his time with UK Mediation, Andy's feedback has never been less than exceptional, with courses and mediation cases delivered to a wide range of clients, including Her Majesty's Prison & Probation Service, B&M Retail, Teesside University, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and Anglian Water.
All of the trainees on Andy's courses would recommend the training to others, and we are delighted when mediators who have trained with us still mention Andy years later when they get back in touch about mediation case support or ongoing training and CPD.
Prior to joining the UK Mediation team, Dawn was the manager of Broxtowe Mediation Service in Nottinghamshire where, along with running her own caseload, she trained, mentored, and supported the personal development of some hundreds of new mediators.
She brings 15 years of experience along with her to UK Mediation, as well as an approach to professional training that course delegates frequently describe as 'Friendly, approachable, and encouraging'.
Dawn is the trainer of choice for many of our long-standing clients. In particular, she has delivered our Level 4 accredited training course to the Innovative Medicines Initiative in Belgium, CityFibre, Barnardos, Depaul UK, and many more.
She is especially experienced in our work around neighbourhood, family, and ASB-related conflict, and also trains groups to resolve complaints using mediation.
Besides being a practising mediator, supervisor, and mediation trainer, Dawn is a qualified employee coach and a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner.
Diane originally worked in an Offender Management role within the Justice System, before moving into mediation, coaching, facilitation, and leadership training. In fact, our very first piece of work with Diane was in setting up a mediation service within HM Prison Lowdham Grange to get prisoners, prison officers, probation workers, and family members talking.
Since joining UK Mediation, Diane has worked across a variety of sectors, most notably with Charity, Housing, and Local Authority sector clients. She regularly carries out mediation cases, as well as our tailored in-house training courses, allowing her to draw on dozens of real-life examples of mediation in action.
Diane holds a Psychology degree and a postgrad certificate in psychology, a Foundation Degree in Offender Management, and a Level 5 Diploma in HR in the Context of Business. She provides the highest quality of training and mediation services to dozens of our clients, including Places for People, Liverpool School for Tropical Medicine, Pirelli, Cumbria Constabulary, and King's College London.
Elizabeth has over 30 years’ experience in various HR and L&D roles in both the public and private sector. Her particular specialisms include consultancy, organisational development, mediation, coaching, and a whole spectrum of leadership and management development activities. Her experience is underpinned with operational experience in both the Crown and County Courts, as well as a solid background on employment law covering the drafting and implementation of policies.
Elizabeth's strengths lie in being a natural coach, seeing the bigger picture, and delivering creative and innovative solutions. The feedback she receives highlights the enthusiasm, energy, professionalism, passion, and integrity that she brings to interventions and design at every level.
One of our longest-serving mediators, George has a professional background in Health & Social Care, and a breadth of experience: right from working in HR to being a groupwork facilitator.
With additional experience in running hostels, and in working with people with mental health problems and addictions, George has an impressive track record in managing difficult interpersonal conflict, and these are some of the skills that he puts to great use for us here at UK Mediation.
George mediates workplace disputes for our private sector clients, as well working with teams and individuals within the housing organisations that we regularly work with. He has also taken on cases for us within the NHS, and has had some great successes with our local authority clients.

Jack has over 20 years of experience in designing and delivering soft skills training, learning initiatives, mediation, and executive coaching.
With a background in music and theatre, Jack is known for his highly creative and engaging style of training. Johanna is a highly experienced mediator and trainer, with an impressive track record of delivering programmes in the mediation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building sphere with consistently excellent feedback.
Johanna has worked with some of the biggest brands, from Arcadia, Tesco, Virgin and HSBC, to Public Health England, Transport for London, and the Met Police. She has particular expertise in mediating situations involving discrimination, sexual harassment, relationship breakdown, and poorly managed formal processes.
As well as being a mediator and trainer, Johanna also draws on her coaching and mentoring skills when working with both individuals and large groups.
Johanna holds the Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD) Level 7 Award in Designing, Delivering and Evaluating Learning and Development Provision, and is also a fluent German speaker, having worked in Berlin as a translator and interpreter.
Judith's Conflict Resolution and Mediation work has taken her to Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia, among other places: working with peace-building initiatives and reconcilaition projects.
Closer to home, she has managed and developed an enitire mediation and community support initiative for Coventry and Warwickshire, developed intergenerational and parent school mediation projects, and developed brand new accredited training and creative group facilitation methods.
An excellent communicator, Judith also speaks Afrikaans, having grown up in South Africa. Prior to joining UK Mediation, her career was centred around education: both as a classroom assistant and as an adult education tutor.

Along with all of our high-level trainers, Lesley is a qualified adult educator. She is additionally qualified as a coach and mentor, and is an MBTI and FIRO-B practitioner.
Lesley came to UK Mediation having had a career as a Senior HR Manager and Business Partner for Marks & Spencer. Since being on the team, she has delivered high-quality training and services to clients such as Alzheimer's Society, Le Creuset, EDF Energy, National Trust, and Parentkind.
Marie originally worked for Royal Mail for 17 years, specialising in general HR, conflict resolution and mediation, training, change management, employee and industrial relations and employee engagement.
A highly experienced mediator, she has completed nearly 300 mediations in a variety of complex and often volatile environments and industry sectors. Her ability to quickly build strong relationships with frontline staff, union officials and management at all levels have smoothed the way to a successful outcome in an overwhelming majority of her cases.
And as an experienced trainer, Marie's primary focus is providing courses that exceed clients' and delegates' expectations and, throughout her career, she has designed and delivered many courses with huge success.
Marie also holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
Nick has extensive experience of working as a mediator in a variety of sectors and contexts, including working in schools, hospitals, and for private companies and charities. He has mediated with and trained people from hugely diverse backgrounds over the past six years: dealing with cases related to race, age, gender, nationality, social and economic status, and with staff in a wide range of roles, from administrative officers to CEOs.
As a practising psychotherapist and a qualified teacher, Nick draws on “soft skills” related to these disciplines in the work of resolving and transforming conflict. He is very interested in the development of theory and practice related to conflict resolution, and write regular blog posts in order to develop his own practice as well as sharing reflections with others.
Pip is a valued member of our experienced panel of trainers and mediators.
Pip’s experience spans across many sectors, from Higher Education and housing clients, to public and private sector organisations, and local government and EU organisations.
She has also worked overseas for large parts of her career, and she works well across different cultures to help clients get the most out of their training.
During her time with UK Mediation, Pip has worked with clients such as RADA, Healthcare Management Trust, West Midlands Ambulance Service, CAYSH, and the University of Kent.
Rupinder is one of our longest-serving trainers and mediators, coming originally from a background in public health, training acccreditation, residential social work, drug & alchohol services, and counselling.
Rupinder is acknowledged as an authority in setting and evaluating training standards. She has represented the National Training and Workforce Development Hub, and was lead the regional training and workforce development group for the North West area. Working with the Community Safety Partnership in the Midlands, Rupinder’s contribution was recognised by the commissioning group as one of the ‘areas of excellence’.
Rupinder is very much in demand with many of our training clients, who will often ask for her to come and deliver their training for them. Feedback points to her particular strengths in her use of teaching methods, using her personal knowledge, and bringing to bear her experience of competency development.
Rupinder is a qualififed counsellor and mediator, with some dozens of mediation cases to draw upon in her training work. She holds the City & Guilds Guilds 7407 Adult Education Teaching Certificate, and a degree in pscyhology, and is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Steve is a recently retired RAF officer, where he acted as a Squadron Commander, mentor, and confidant to hundreds of personnel on operations. Due to his inherent interest in helping people resolve their differences, and thereby improve their lives, he trained as a mediator in 2009. Steve went on to become a key figure in RAF mediation, helping to shape its policy and direction over more than a decade. Using his passion for conflict resolution, he conducted a high number of successful mediations and was recognised as one of the RAF's senior mediators.
As a mediator and mediation supervisor, he has a warm and empathic approach that helps break down barriers and allay any fears that people may have about engaging in the mediation process. This engaging style has led to many complex conflict situations move towards resolution, helping to create a more harmonious working relationship.
In addition to his mediator qualifications, Steve holds a degree in Organisational Capability and Development and recently gained a Level 3 award in Education and Training. As well as his passion for mediation, Steve is a keen chess coach and tennis player, and has published a humorous memoir about his 43 years’ service.
