We are pleased to announce that UK Mediation CEO and Founder, Dr Mike Talbot, will be presenting a workshop at this year’s Universities Human Resources (UHR) Annual Conference.
Titled ‘Differing Approaches to Conflict: What You Give Is What You Get’, Dr Talbot will once again be presenting alongside Samantha Birkett, Head of People and OD at Liverpool John Moores University.
This will be the second time that Dr Talbot and Samantha have teamed up at this event, with the pair presenting a talk on effective dialogue in an education setting back in 2018.
And, on this occasion, they will be looking at the multiple approaches that universities could take to resolving workplace conflict, including exploring the role that mediation can have.
The three-day conference, now in its eight year, brings together an exciting range of plenary speakers, workshops, and activities, as well as a Gala dinner and awards ceremony. It is expected to attract hundreds of HR practitioners from top universities all over the UK and Ireland.
Dr Talbot had this to say about the upcoming event:
“Disputes between university staff have been very much in the news recently. UK Mediation is pleased to be involved in initiatives to reduce unnecessary conflict, improve employee morale, and lessen any disruption to students’ education, which can often be the fallout from such situations.
I am delighted to be contributing to the conference with our longstanding clients at LJMU, and we look forward to sharing our ideas about how best to manage conflict more positively.”
The workshop will be presented on two occasions on Wednesday 20th May – at 11:45 and 14:15 – and we look forward to seeing some of you there!
