Mediators are well aware that people in conflict can sometimes behave in ways that seem, on the surface, to be out of proportion to the issues that they are in dispute about. One difficult conversation might trigger a prolonged fall-out; a supposedly hostile glance or an overheard comment might completely sour an otherwise healthy relationship.
We all carry a legacy of the conflicts that we have been involved in, and especially when such conflict has been left unresolved, it can bubble up when we least expect it and play out in our present-day responses to conflict. We can surprise others and sometimes even ourselves with how ferociously we might respond to even the most moderate of disagreements.
This webinar, hosted by Dr Mike Talbot, will explore this 'baggage' that we bring into conflict situations: what it is, where it comes from, and how we as conflict resolvers can work with, rather than against it.
